Sunrise Children's Hospital Pharmacy
Treating children for injury or illness is often completely different from treating adults. Providing them with the necessary medications and dosages that they need to recover is just as specialized.
Sunrise Childrens Hospital has pharmacists who specialize in pediatrics and have the added level of knowledge to provide this care. These specialists, with the assistance of pharmacy technicians, will actually prepare or mix the proper pediatric medications and then clinically monitor the effects of the medication for the pediatric patients. The pharmacists also attend patient rounds with the physicians and nurses caring for the child to provide direct patient care on the various pediatric and neonatal units.
Sunrise Childrens Hospital has also provided its own state-of-the-art Childrens Hospital Pharmacy, the only one of its kind in the state of Nevada. The Childrens Hospital Pharmacy is also involved with the care of pediatric patients suffering from cancer and the pharmacists are trained in the utilization of the international Childrens Oncology Group (COG) drug therapy protocols. The Childrens Hospital also has on staff a pharmacy clinical coordinator who is one of 30 pharmacists worldwide that has been granted Full Membership status on the Childrens Oncology Group Pharmacist Discipline Committee.
The combination of specialized staff and a dedicated pharmacy are a winning combination for the children of Clark County and surrounding areas.
